Tags and Permits

Tag and Hunting Permit Information

The hunter is responsible for purchasing their tag/tags and applying for Montana hunting permits on their own. This can be done through Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks website or through the mail if MTFWP sends a packet to your address.

Deer Hunts

  • Non-Resident hunters must apply for a Deer Combination Tag (no special permit required).  Resident hunters need an over the counter Deer A tag.  The deadline to apply is typically March 15.  Drawing results are typically released the middle or April.  When applying for Deer Combo purchase a preference point all before March 15th. We do not suggest for you to wait and take a chance to purchase a tag after the draw.  We ask you to apply for the appropriate tag by the March 15 deadline.

Antelope Hunts

  • If you are Rifle Antelope Hunting with us, you need to apply for the special permit by the deadline, typically June 1.  Contact us for the permit area you need to apply for.  Results of drawing are typically the week of August 1. Would encourage purchasing bonus points to assist in drawing a tag.
  • If you are Archery Antelope Hunting with us, you need to apply for the special permit by the deadline, typically June 1.  Apply for the antelope permit 900-20.  Results of drawing are typically the week of August 1.

Turkey Hunts

General Non-Resident Turkey licensing can be purchased locally at any over-the-counter outlet, and also purchased online. For hunting two turkeys, the Region 7 (799-00) additional turkey tag is needed, and may also be purchased over-the-counter and online.
